Dr. Nancy E. Testa has been an educator in Connecticut for over 25 years. Nancy received her BS in Elementary Education and Spanish from The University of St. Joseph in Connecticut. She received her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State University and received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2008.
In her first years as an educator, Nancy taught pre-Kindergarten and full-day kindergarten before teaching high school Spanish. In 2000, Nancy was recognized for her collaboration with teachers and families, her work with students and for the numerous leadership roles she assumed and was selected as East Hartford’s Public School’s 2000 District Teacher of the Year. Nancy spearheaded numerous school and district initiatives and served on various committees, which included co-chairing and facilitating the high school’s NEASC accreditation process and designing and establishing a theme-based intermediate school, The Sunset Ridge Academy of Fine & Performing Arts and World Languages, which opened its doors in 2009. In 2009, a sister-school partnership was established by Nancy between the district’s intermediate school, middle school and the International Baccalaureate high school with 3 schools in the Shandong Province in China. This sister-school partnership has expanded since its initiation.
In the last 5 years, Nancy has been the K-12 district-level administrator supervising ESL/Bilingual, World Language and Gifted & Talented teachers and tutors for a large district in Connecticut. She has spearheaded numerous initiatives to support program improvement to support student success and achievement across the district, with a focus on English As A Second Language (ESL), World Language and Gifted & Talented students. The effectiveness of her leadership has led to improved K-12 programs, curricula work, student success and academic achievement.
