Every day administrators are faced with making decisions. And sometimes, in the process of making those decisions, administrators think “why me” instead of “why not me”. The calls, emails, and visits from central office personnel with requests to take on new initiatives can often seem like just one more thing to check off the endless list. And it might feel like filling those requests should be someone else’s job.
But why not YOU?
As an administrator, you should always see requests or directives as an opportunity to not only showcase your talents, but also as a chance to continue to act in the best interest of the students. There can only be one option, which is to face these challenges head-on. When you put up opposition to opportunity, you can possibly be shutting doors that were opened specifically for you. This will leave not only you, but more importantly your students behind.
So the next time you get that dreaded call, email, or visit from central office, take it as an opportunity to use your talents to improve yourself and your school. Why not YOU?
